This sequinned Fendi frock is the perfect party dress. I mistook model Ranya Mordanova for Claudia Schiffer, doesn’t she look just like her? Photography by Yossi Michaeli and the image is from an editorial from The Luxure Magazine‘s Summer 2013 issue. If you have some time, I highly recommend you kill some of it over at the Fendi website. I think I kind of fell down a rabbit a rabbit hole when I began reading about the history of the house of Fendi and the many stunning contributions that Fendi has made to fashion, style and luxury!
Today is the last day of the school holidays. Last week day that is and so I’m taking my girls to see Monsters University. I confess I am probably more excited than they are to see it because I love Mike & Sully!
Enjoy your weekend!

Naomi Watts shines is this beautiful cover image for Australian Vogue February 2013. Photographed by Will Davidson and styled by Stevie Dance. Vogue Australia has had quite the shake up since the shock exit of long-time editor in chief Kirstie Clements in May 2012. The new team, headed up by Edwina McCann includes talented people from rival Harper’s Bazaar, and they have also opened the net to freelance stylists like former Russh editor and now contributing editor of Oyster, Stevie Dance. This is all great news and I am thrilled with the direction Vogue Australia has taken. It’s a breath of fresh air in the magazine world that is completely saturated with the same images and it is a tribute to the new team at Vogue that they have been supported to produce such innovative and inspiring work since taking over the helm. I hope they continue with their vision.
Have a great weekend!

As this will be my final Frock Friday post for 2012, I thought I had better choose something New Year’s party inspired! I haven’t any plans for huge celebrations this year… but you know what? We can’t all be party animals and I see nothing wrong with a simple evening-in, enjoying a nice bottle of bubbly (or two) with my favourite nibbles & watching the Sydney Harbour fireworks on the telly. I mean let’s face it, I’ve seen the fireworks up close and personal many times and so I am content to watch them from my couch now!
And so, back to the frock, which is perfect for wearing to a fabulous New Year’s Eve bash. Claret red, long, sparkly and sexy , model Sigrid Agren shines in this beautiful Michael Kors jersey frock for ‘Nuit Blanche’ as seen in issue 139 of Numéro, photographed by Yelena Yemchuk. I’d like to thank you for stopping by and supporting I like, I wish, I heart over 2012. The world of blogging has changed a lot since I started in 2008, there are so many of us out there now and so I really appreciate it when I see comments and new followers as it keeps me going, keeps me inspired and keeps me real. My blog is my sanctuary, my touchstone and my zen. I love it and as I evolve, so does I like, I wish, I heart and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a reader, follower, for leaving comments and keeping it all real!
Happy 2013! May your year be filled with love, laughter, abundance, good health and prosperity.
Love & light,
While searching for images for my Frock Friday posts, sometimes I find pictures of frocks that are just perfect for the season. The giant train on this strapless Dior Haute Couture frock worn here by Christy Turlington reminds me of a Christmas bonbon. Photograph from 1990 by Arthur Elgort.
Today is, according to the Mayan calendar, the end of the world as we know it. It’s funny listening to some people’s take on what this means to them. I am hoping that the world won’t end of course, as I’d like to see my girls grow up! But I do hope it means the end of the dark and the beginning of the light. The past few years have been so very tough, so very challenging, so very dark and I wouldn’t wish them on anyone (well, maybe…) anyway, I know I’m not the only one doing it tough, and so if it is the end of the world as we know it, then I hope that from tomorrow onward, the world is a kinder, happier, more considerate, more gentle and understanding, compassionate and patient place to be.
Enjoy your weekend. xx
As Christmas nears I am increasingly drawn to frocks that remind me of the season. Whether it be tinsel or baubles, either way it’s a decoration of some kind. This beautiful gown from Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2013 collection is no exception.
I read online that Carolina was inspired by night and day and she put this into her collection. “The result was an abundance of celestial motifs, from golden stars embroidered on a lovely navy gown to tarot card images on colorful dresses.” – WWD.com . How is your Christmas shopping coming along? I spent most of yesterday out and about and I only managed to make a small dent in my list. Very disappointed about that I must say because I was so hoping to get it all done in one day – believe me it can be done! So today I am going to focus on finding recipes for our Christmas Eve party and Christmas Day lunch. I’m keeping lunch very simple this year. No duck, no ham, no over the top desserts. Just simple slow-roasted pork belly and veggies followed by possibly a pavlova or chocolate mousse. I’m not a big fan of turkey, I usually like to cook pork or duck. What about you, do you have a favourite recipe you save for Christmas lunch or dinner?
Have a lovely weekend. xx
This Alberta Ferretti gown in stunning purple from Elle Ukraine’s November 2012 issue was photographed by Nikolay Biryukov on Lake Como in Italy. Click on the image to see the editorial in full.
It’s been a busy week, and it kicked off beautifully (she says with a sarcastic tone) on Sunday afternoon with a visit to Emergency at our local hospital with Annabel. She broke her wrist when she fell off her swing 🙁 My poor baby, it’s terrible seeing your child in so much pain. Not a very good start to summer for her but hopefully she’ll be out of her cast in about 6 weeks, so she should get some swimming in eventually. It’s been a busy couple of weeks for both my girls, I don’t know, must be something going on up there, some plantetary craziness perhaps?
Hope you have a great weekend. xx
A sultry Kate Moss shot by Mario Testino for Vogue Spain for their December 2012 issue.
The gown is Christian Dior and the shoes are Manolo Blahnik.
She looks like a very elegant Christmas bauble.
Finally after weeks of practice and rehearsals, Annabel will be on stage tonight (and tomorrow) for her dance concert. I can’t wait to see her on stage, I wonder if this will be the year where I don’t burst into tears of joy and pride?
Have a lovely weekend. xx
Cameron Diaz sporting Emanuel Ungaro on the red carpet at the 2002 Academy Awards. Establishing a little boho-rebellion style of her own by belting it with a 19th-century Indian necklace from Fred Leighton and a chipped manicure to boot. A long-time fan of Ungaro, I have always admired Diaz for choosing this over the usual satin and sequin encrusted usually favoured by the red carpet regulars. At the time she was quoted she was going for a look that was uniquely her. “I wanted to wear something I felt casual and myself in,” she told People. “I feel like I just got out of bed and threw it on.”
Have a wonderful weekend. xx
This gorgeous Stella McCartney dress was shot by Garance Dorè for Vogue Brazil and features a gorgeous headband by Cult Gaia and the necklace is by Marco Bologna. I love this dress and this picture so much, must find a way to visit Brazil one of these days.
So the movers arrived at 8am this morning – I’m off to work so I get to avoid the heavy lifting – yes! I will only have mobile internet access over the next 5 to 7 days (the horror!) so but I have worked on some scheduled posts, so I hope I’ve got them worked out and everything goes to plan. But no matter as I’m still going to be keeping you up to date on my Facebook page, so head on over and keep in touch!
I hope you have a lovely weekend! xx
