Give a frock Friday

Victoria Beckham features on the cover and in the pages of August UK Vogue, photographed by Patrick Demarchelier of course. Here she is wearing a beautiful frock (can I call couture a frock?) from Schiaparelli Haute Couture. Keeping her warm is a wool coat by Maison Martin Margiela and leather boots by Christian Louboutin – who else? What a dream photo shoot, such lovely clothes she gets to model for the camera. Beautifully styled by Lucinda Chambers, the shoot centres around Victoria in the garden, the aim was to see her doing something no one’s seen her do before, at least not in the pages of a magazine.

In Victoria’s own words: “I looked at it [turning 40] and said to myself, I have four incredible children, an incredible husband, a business that’s doing very well. I’ve worked hard and achieved a lot. I don’t think I could have achieved much more,” she told Vogue’s Emily Sheffield, adding: “I wouldn’t be where I am without David. He gives me the security and encouragement to do what I do. I do the same for him.”

For no particular reason, other than being inspired by the lovely Mrs Beckham’s words above, I would like to give my own husband a shout-out just quietly here while I have the chance. Thank you, my love, for all that you do, for all that you are, and for the support you provide, the encouragement you offer me when needed, and for making me breakfast. I may not always show it, or say so, but it is always, always appreciated. Xo

Whether you’re just waking up on the other side of the planet, or if you’re getting ready to settle in, or having your first after work drink, I wish you all a wonderful Friday and fabulous weekend!

La Dolce Vita – Dolce & Gabbana Couture by the Sea

The show was on the Italian resort isle of Capri in high summer.  The couture was true Dolce & Gabbana, with hand-painted ball gowns featuring the yellows and blues of the local majolica ceramics, along with luscious citrus fruits, the curved handles of ancient amphorae and juxtaposed with the regatta stripes of the sea. The models wore their hair in typical centre parts and were decorated with jewel encrusted gold crowns, it definitely looks as if their intention was to take you to another time and place.

Pure extravagance, but isn’t that the very nature of haute couture? I love it!

fashion_scans_remastered-cara_delevingne-numero_tokyo-jan_feb_2014-scanned_by_vampirehorde-hq-3So English model Cara Delevingne looks very dreamy in this shot and I do like this picture for it’s relaxed setting and especially for the print in the fabric of this lovely frock from Louis Vuitton Resort 2014.

Well it seems as if we’ve all turned a corner in our confidence and creativity with our flows at yoga teacher training, it’s fantastic to be a part of it all. Gosh I have had an amazing week! There’s not one particular thing I can say has been the cause of such joy, it’s just been good all around, basically all I can tell you is that the Universe works in mysterious and wonderful ways and this week has just ticked all the boxes for life being beautiful! Thank you Universe!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever you are!

Moody Monday

I’m procrastinating. This blog is me, procrastinating. How long has it been since I’ve posted a blog? Yeah, I know, too long.
It’s winter, it’s cold, and my wardrobe is bare. Denim is really my saving grace during this time of the year, why? Well, because it’s mostly warm, and you don’t get too hot in it like some winter fabrics. Especially here where I live where the mornings are brisk, but the the sun can still get quite hot. Denim is versatile too, that is, it goes with just about everything in my wardrobe. You can dress it up or dress it down and it always, always looks good with my boots. What more could a girl want? I’m particularly loving double denim right now. Here’s some inspiration for your Monday.

Denim paired with chambray. Loving the leather accessories and the worn straw hat too.

Nice big pockets on these jeans, an absolute necessity!

Boyfriend denim jeans again worn with chambray and her wooly overcoat. Winter inspiration indeed.

This shot was the inspiration for this post. I love the pairing of the white tailored jacket with the double denim and the jewelled necklace.

Perfect market day attire. Casual chic at its best. Is that an obi she’s wearing as a belt?

Double denim – mwah!

Boho denim. No words. Just love.

Now, enough procrastinating, back to practicing my yoga teaching assignment! This week it’s fire-in-the-belly flow and bridge pose. Lots of talking, plus I’m thinking of throwing in a variation of Eka Pada setu Bandhasana, one-legged bridge pose. It’s gonna be fun!

Have a wonderful week.
