Happy Australia Day!

It’s a very wet Australia Day here in my corner of the world today. But, no matter because there’s always the traditional Triple J Hottest 100 to listen to while my girls play Mahjong with their daddy (he’s losing by the way) and I’m just trying to keep dry by dodging the intermittent showers when I absolutely have to take the dog out for a toilet break!

I love this Helmut Newton image for Vogue Australia December/January 1964-65.

Karlina Caune stars in the Tom Ford Spring 2013 campaign. Don’t you just dig those shoes? Curious shoes though, are they stilettos or are they boots? I’m loving the silver and gold aspect of this shot and the whole disco-ball inspired theme of the frock.

How’s your weekend looking? It’s wet and wild here with torrential rain from Cyclone Oswald hitting the coast as of yesterday. Finally some rain! My water tanks are full to over-flowing, the garden is watered and the dust has well and truly been washed away! Have a great weekend.

Creative Spaces

This is what I feel right now, right at this moment! What a great reminder this would be in a living room, don’t you think? So, imagine you’re having a bad day, and you walk into your living room and POW! Instantly you change your perspective. Inspired living room light installation! xx

Naomi Campbell is girly and curvy in this Thom Browne jacket & skirt – yes I’ve actually deviated from an actual frock this week, but hey, it’s my blog ain’t it? I just love this image.

We arrived home yesterday from our glamping trip and it was so wonderful, such a great trip away! Wish we could have stayed a bit longer. Oh well, maybe next year?

Have a lovely weekend!

Summer Glamping

I am officially on holiday, I can’t believe it! So tomorrow, very early we are off glamping this week. The weather is beyond perfect for it and we are going to be setting up camp with two other families, all of which have little ones that are roughly the same age as ours – TGFT!

Yesterday morning I began packing for our little sojourn and I was amazed to discover how many summer glamping trip appropriate outfits I have! So happy with the surplus ensembles piling up that I now have to edit my capsule glamping wardrobe down to a manageable size. Maybe I should just bring them all, they don’t take up much space. 🙂

For more glamping inspired images, check out my Gone Glamping board on Pinterest.

I hope you have a great week and I’ll see you on the other side!

Best in Vogue – Spring 2013

While we are in the middle of a summer heatwave here, the pre-fall shows are just beginning in the North. But the Spring collections are all over the February issue of Vogue UK. I came across this editorial today and I just love it so I had to share it with you because it’s Vogue UK showing off the best of the Spring 2013 collections with top British models to boot. Enjoy!

burberry spring 2013bottega veneta spring 2013 chanel spring 2013 Giorgio Armani S2013 prada spring 2013 saint laurent spring 2013

Already my favourites are the Saint Laurent pants and hats – how gorgeous are they? The Chanel clutches are also very covetable, yes?  Models Edie Campbell, Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Stephanie Hall, Lara Mullen, Sam Rollinson, Rosie Tapner & Charlotte Wiggins for UK Vogue February 2013 by Angelo Pennetta.

I’m going away with my little family this week, finally I get a teeny-tiny break from work and also from blogging. No I won’t be completely cut-off, I will probably post the odd pic on Instagram, and tweet the occasional glamping-related rant, but for the most part I will be unplugged and taking it easy by the seaside. Heaven!

gucci_naomi watts_vogue australia feb 2013

Naomi Watts shines is this beautiful cover image for Australian Vogue February 2013. Photographed by Will Davidson and styled by Stevie Dance. Vogue Australia has had quite the shake up since the shock exit of long-time editor in chief Kirstie Clements in May 2012. The new team, headed up by Edwina McCann includes talented people from rival Harper’s Bazaar, and they have also opened the net to freelance stylists like former Russh editor and now contributing editor of Oyster, Stevie Dance. This is all great news and I am thrilled with the direction Vogue Australia has taken. It’s a breath of fresh air in the magazine world that is completely saturated with the same images and it is a tribute to the new team at Vogue that they have been supported to produce such innovative and inspiring work since taking over the helm. I hope they continue with their vision.

Have a great weekend!

Well Heeled

I love the evolution of shoe design over the past decade. Designers have turned the humble shoe into an art form, daring to take it to a place that sometimes I can’t believe my eyes. Over the years I’ve blogged about the amazing designs seen on the street through the lens of the street photographers in the cities of Paris and Milan. The designs are something out of this world, almost architectural and the skill involved in making these shoes are unbelievable. Designers like Manolo Blahnik paved the way for the wearable art of innovative designs of Nicholas Kirkwood, Giuseppe Zanotti, Balenciaga, Prada, Chanel and of course, Monsieur Christian Louboutin.

Vogue UK’s February 2013 issue features some incredible examples of what I’m talking about.

I love this type of editorial, they get me excited about what’s happening in the world of fashion, it transports me from the everyday – don’t you think?

I Heart… Lindbergh + Bottega Veneta + Freja

Peter Lindbergh, one of fashion’s most talented photographers, and one of my personal favourites shot the Spring 2013 Bottega Veneta campaign featuring Freja Beha Erichsen. The images are timeless and this dress is to die for, and Freja looks pretty fabulous too!

Hope you’re having a good week, its scorching hot here, too hot for the beach but maybe later this afternoon?
