Swedish model Frida Gustavsson shows us how to rock the latest in denim style for Vogue Netherlands January/February issue. Is it just me or do we rarely see editorials featuring denim? Jeans are such an important wardrobe staple, I guess high end fashion magazines like Vogue have less of an option to show off denim, even if it is from the likes of Valentino, Chanel and Balmain.
As this will be my final Frock Friday post for 2012, I thought I had better choose something New Year’s party inspired! I haven’t any plans for huge celebrations this year… but you know what? We can’t all be party animals and I see nothing wrong with a simple evening-in, enjoying a nice bottle of bubbly (or two) with my favourite nibbles & watching the Sydney Harbour fireworks on the telly. I mean let’s face it, I’ve seen the fireworks up close and personal many times and so I am content to watch them from my couch now!
And so, back to the frock, which is perfect for wearing to a fabulous New Year’s Eve bash. Claret red, long, sparkly and sexy , model Sigrid Agren shines in this beautiful Michael Kors jersey frock for ‘Nuit Blanche’ as seen in issue 139 of Numéro, photographed by Yelena Yemchuk. I’d like to thank you for stopping by and supporting I like, I wish, I heart over 2012. The world of blogging has changed a lot since I started in 2008, there are so many of us out there now and so I really appreciate it when I see comments and new followers as it keeps me going, keeps me inspired and keeps me real. My blog is my sanctuary, my touchstone and my zen. I love it and as I evolve, so does I like, I wish, I heart and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a reader, follower, for leaving comments and keeping it all real!
Happy 2013! May your year be filled with love, laughter, abundance, good health and prosperity.
Now that Christmas is over with (TGFT) I’m feeling a little stuck for inspiration, and I think because I’m so busy being chained to my work desk, I’ve not stopped to check out my favourite street fashion blogs for a while. So anyways, after doing so, I thought I’d share with you a few of the images that I found the most interesting and inspiring for the coming season for us here down under. That means no summer clothes, all warm and woolly!
So it looks like blazers, shades of grey, trench coats, denim shirts, bright colours, mirrored sunnies and small handbags are on my radar. Check back later for more as I continue to show you what’s out and about on the streets of Paris, Milan and New York over the season.
Ballet flats. In the colour red, of course. These beauties are indispensable in my wardrobe. They are great with jeans, skirts, frocks, I can’t live with out them! Tell me, what’s in your wardrobe that you cannot live with out? … Continue reading →
While searching for images for my Frock Friday posts, sometimes I find pictures of frocks that are just perfect for the season. The giant train on this strapless Dior Haute Couture frock worn here by Christy Turlington reminds me of a Christmas bonbon. Photograph from 1990 by Arthur Elgort.
Today is, according to the Mayan calendar, the end of the world as we know it. It’s funny listening to some people’s take on what this means to them. I am hoping that the world won’t end of course, as I’d like to see my girls grow up! But I do hope it means the end of the dark and the beginning of the light. The past few years have been so very tough, so very challenging, so very dark and I wouldn’t wish them on anyone (well, maybe…) anyway, I know I’m not the only one doing it tough, and so if it is the end of the world as we know it, then I hope that from tomorrow onward, the world is a kinder, happier, more considerate, more gentle and understanding, compassionate and patient place to be.
As Christmas nears I am increasingly drawn to frocks that remind me of the season. Whether it be tinsel or baubles, either way it’s a decoration of some kind. This beautiful gown from Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2013 collection is no exception.
I read online that Carolina was inspired by night and day and she put this into her collection. “The result was an abundance of celestial motifs, from golden stars embroidered on a lovely navy gown to tarot card images on colorful dresses.” – WWD.com. How is your Christmas shopping coming along? I spent most of yesterday out and about and I only managed to make a small dent in my list. Very disappointed about that I must say because I was so hoping to get it all done in one day – believe me it can be done! So today I am going to focus on finding recipes for our Christmas Eve party and Christmas Day lunch. I’m keeping lunch very simple this year. No duck, no ham, no over the top desserts. Just simple slow-roasted pork belly and veggies followed by possibly a pavlova or chocolate mousse. I’m not a big fan of turkey, I usually like to cook pork or duck. What about you, do you have a favourite recipe you save for Christmas lunch or dinner?
This room is simple, cosy, sleep inducing perfection. I’ll be posting more pictures of bedrooms as I’m looking for decorating inspiration for my own. What do you think makes a bedroom?
I finally got some time to see Skyfall today and it was worth the wait! Daniel Craig has certainly cemented himself in Bond history now, and in the words of my BFF, “Man oh man can that guy wear a suit!” The entire cast were fantastic and Sam Mendes did a superb job directing his first Bond film. He played homage to the history of the films, treating them with respect and affection. More please!
