A sultry Kate Moss shot by Mario Testino for Vogue Spain for their December 2012 issue.
The gown is Christian Dior and the shoes are Manolo Blahnik.
She looks like a very elegant Christmas bauble.
Finally after weeks of practice and rehearsals, Annabel will be on stage tonight (and tomorrow) for her dance concert. I can’t wait to see her on stage, I wonder if this will be the year where I don’t burst into tears of joy and pride?
Have a lovely weekend. xx
‘Tis nearing the season of merriment and frivolity and as such, today my BFF and I’ve began making pre-Christmas drinks party plans. We decided that our party this year is going to be the beginning of a tradition. Something memorable and so much fun, that in the future I am sure I’ll look forward to it maybe more than the big day itself! I’ll share more plans with you later, but I will say that the words Bellini, kitsch and the name Nigella were used in our discussion of ideas.
The idea of Christmas drinks parties got me thinking about how nice it is would be to put together a mini bar or drinks table for guests so that they can pour themselves. The whole thing reminds me of Mad Men, they seem to be going to the drinks cart quite a lot through out the show, don’t they?
Do you have any traditions in the lead up to Christmas day?
Who ever said that pink and red couldn’t work together? I love the creative use of colour with this dining table and chairs. It brings the white minimalist interior to life.
How’s your week going? xx
Daria Werbowy wearing Nina Ricci from the Spring/Summer 2004 ad campaign. Photographed by none other than Patrick Demarchelier, this shot doesn’t look posed, it looks as if Patrick has stolen a moment, don’t you think? Daria is definitely one of my favourite models, she’s very good at what she does and even just sitting about in this pretty little lemon and lace number, she’s perfection. She has fabulous hair too, by the way.
Today was going great, all very normal until late this afternoon en route home from picking up Miss Annabel from her ballet class I get a call from hubby telling me he was en route to Emergency with Miss Chloè because she had been bitten by a dog on the thigh! My poor baby, we were all freaking out, but thank fully she is going to be just fine. She was very concerned about why a dog would want to bite her though. Can’t say I blame her really. Why would anybody keep a dog that wasn’t trust worthy? Our Labrador Jet is the most placid, sweet-natured dog in the universe. No wonder Chloè didn’t see it coming, how could she when to her, all the dogs she knows are happy souls like her Jet?
Enjoy your weekend peeps. xx
I’ve been unpacking all my books and magazines and guess what? I think I need another book case as I have finally managed to fill the three I have. Imagine having your own library like this? And they’ve also complimented the space well with lots of lovely greenery. This is my idea of literary heaven. 🙂
I’m back at work tomorrow, hope your week is going well. xx
A little over 3 months ago I started doing something that has really changed my life.
I began a little practice called “oil pulling”. Hubby and I do this each and almost every morning. It’s really quite simple and extremely rewarding.
You take a tablespoon of oil, we prefer sesame (organic and extra virgin) and you swish it around in your mouth for 2o minutes. I know it sounds bizaar and highly irregular, but I am telling you things happen when you do this – good things!
The first thing I noticed was the positive effect it has had on my teeth and gums. They are so much whiter and my gums are the perfect shade of pink. My skin is clearer and brighter. The usual body aches and pains I suffered from daily are now much less noticeable, especially my lower back, knee and shoulder/neck issues. My hair is so shiny and healthy, and it’s even beginning to thicken up, something which I thought would never happen because I had lost so much from stress over the past few years. I thought it was never going to grow back, but I can definitely see new hair growing.
The concept of oil pulling is very old, it comes from Ayurvedic tradition. It has a detoxifying effect because the oil acts like a cleanser. When you put it in your mouth and work it around your teeth and gums it “pulls” out bacteria and other debris. You can learn more about oil pulling here and here.
And I’ll tell you something else – it’s excellent for arthritis. I have it in my thumbs and since I’ve been oil pulling, my arthritis pain is nonexistent. It’s different for each person, so it may take longer to receive benefits, but I’m telling you at the very least your teeth and gums will thank you for it. Another benefit is the lovely quiet time I get before my day really gets going. I take the dog out for her morning business, I take a shower and I check my email. It makes for a very easy start to the day.
I’ve passed this wonder practice onto many of my friends and work colleagues and I am surprised how many of them have taken it up themselves and are enjoying their own personal benefits from the practice.
If you’d like to ask me any questions about oil pulling, please feel free to leave me a comment and I’ll leave you a reply. xx
Gwen Stefani is a very stylish girl and I’ve always admired Gwen Stefani’s individual style. She’s bold, and brash and unapologetic and as she gets older and wiser, and grows as a mother and performer, her style has become more refined and more feminine but she has managed to retain that certain edge she so effortlessly puts into everything thing she wears. Her blonde bombshell hair and signature red lips whether worn with couture or denim always looks polished and poised. Let’s face it, she’s high-maintenance, but she maintains it well! This is coming from a very, very low-maintenance girl. 🙂
Cameron Diaz sporting Emanuel Ungaro on the red carpet at the 2002 Academy Awards. Establishing a little boho-rebellion style of her own by belting it with a 19th-century Indian necklace from Fred Leighton and a chipped manicure to boot. A long-time fan of Ungaro, I have always admired Diaz for choosing this over the usual satin and sequin encrusted usually favoured by the red carpet regulars. At the time she was quoted she was going for a look that was uniquely her. “I wanted to wear something I felt casual and myself in,” she told People. “I feel like I just got out of bed and threw it on.”
Have a wonderful weekend. xx
This is just what I’m craving after the move. Time alone, uninterrupted, reading and relaxing. I really hope the universe conspires to help this happen…
Hope you’re having a good week. xx
This gorgeous Stella McCartney dress was shot by Garance Dorè for Vogue Brazil and features a gorgeous headband by Cult Gaia and the necklace is by Marco Bologna. I love this dress and this picture so much, must find a way to visit Brazil one of these days.
So the movers arrived at 8am this morning – I’m off to work so I get to avoid the heavy lifting – yes! I will only have mobile internet access over the next 5 to 7 days (the horror!) so but I have worked on some scheduled posts, so I hope I’ve got them worked out and everything goes to plan. But no matter as I’m still going to be keeping you up to date on my Facebook page, so head on over and keep in touch!
I hope you have a lovely weekend! xx
